Above are some pictures I took in the winter of 2016 at my cabin on the hill above Dennis Lake ~ 1 Bobs Place, Km 13 McDonell Forest Service Road.
You can really see the change in patina with the snow as contrast.
The Kudos are different since the original broke so many times, I carved the large one in Quesnel, the other two in Smithers in 2009. The original burned in my cabin fire at Purden Mountain Ski Resort in 2012.
Below are the first photos I took of it back in the winter of 2004-5 when I lived on Calanan St. in Quesnel.
The visualization for this sculpture came to me while awaking at approx. 3:00 am on July 1st 2004. Prior to the dream I was considering a 2nd edition to "The Pocket Guide to Universal Understanding" a book I had written in 1997 and was struggling with a way to explain the underlying concept behind it. The dream occurred very quickly... I saw what appeared to be 3 shapes turning upon an upright streamer... the shapes were in the shape of a musical note... or seed. Like a comma... they were connected. I woke up excited and began carving one of the smaller shapes right away. It all began to fit together with my pocket quide as if they were hand in hand.
One day I went looking for a log to carve the large streamer... by this point it was obvious it was a larger version of the smaller spheres. I found a log about the right size... and after carving the shape... the patina and fiqures emerging from the wood were perfect for what I wanted to explain.
After working on the large sphere it finally came time to look for a way to display it... I wanted to find something I could balance the whole sculpture on... the large one... with the smaller spheres balanced on the top. I walked down to the bridge where I threw my brass pipe away. I walked across and began walking into the bush... didn't make much sense so I walked back to the bridge... down to the creek and the first rock I found that looked right had an indentation in it... I picked it up. When I got back... I placed the sculptue on the rock... it balanced perfectly. After long hours of sanding I began oiling with lindseed oil... the wood came out with a very nice orange color... the more oil I apply the nicer the finish gets. It is still sitting in my living room.
I refer to it as a visual aid in the explanation of my personal belief that everything in the universe and natural world is connected and together play an integral role in balancing the grand equation we call life. The sculpture, from my point of view, has multiple meanings that revolve around energy, life, music, thought, communication, knowledge and understanding of not only our natural world but also of the universe we live in.
A painting to help visualioze it.
